Each day will have 3 Components that I will give you in that day’s blog post:

1. Daily Affirmation

2. Menu with Tips for the day.

3. Daily Questions to answer in the “Comments” section! YES, you need to participate….way more fun that way! I will be! Here’s today’s…

DAY 1:

1. Daily Affirmation: “This food is nourishing every cell in my body back to health.”

This will come in handy, especially when you don’t love the taste or you’re just plain sick of eating raw. Say this over and over again until you believe it. Also, I think it is important to give thanks to God while I’m eating/ drinking so I will pray quietly sometimes: “Thank You Lord for your creation which heals me. Restore every cell in my body to the healthiest it has ever been.” and then YES- I pray in Jesus’ name. For those who know me, I am not overly religious, but I have a very personal relationship with God. I won’t go on and on about that, but I do believe that Jesus is who He says He is. Did I lose anybody yet? Hope not, because the rest is good stuff.

2. Today’s Menu:

Breakfast-cup of organic green tea, Blueberry Celery Smoothie (3 stalks celery, 2 cups blueberries, 1 banana, 2 cups water, 2 ice cubes ice- BLEND)

Snack- continue to drink breakfast smoothie, 1 pear if hungry

Lunch- BIG salad with yummy dressing of your choice (2 cup spinach, 1/4 red onion sliced, 1/2 avocado sliced, 1/2 soaked sunflower seeds, sunflower sprouts, 1 crown chopped broccoli, 1 apple chopped, 1 c lentils, season with salt/pepper, 2 heaping Tbsp hummus)

Snack- sliced apple with 1 Tbsp almond butter, green veggie  juice (1 whole beet, 5 stalks celery. Use juicer.

Dinner- Savory Green Smoothie (1 large handful baby greens, 1/4 bunch of fresh basil, 1/2 lime juiced, 1/2 red onion, 2 celery stalks, 1/4 avocado, 2 cups water) For this you have the option to add in 3 florets cauliflower, 1/2 pepper, 1 tomato, and 1/2 cup beans if you’re really hungry!

Dessert- naturally uncaffeinated herbal tea of your choice, green juice if hungry.

3. Daily Questions: Answer these questions in the “Comments” section below !

  • What non-“Cleanse” food did you crave the most today? How did you get past it?
  • If you “cheated” today, what did you eat?
  • Did you add or alter to the menu and if so, how?

TIPS for today…

  • If the tea makes you hot, add a few ice cubes.
  • Make sure you’re drinking plenty of filtered water.
  • Get 7-9 hours of sleep tonight!
  • If you feel hungry, EAT! No starving allowed.
  • If you love green tea, drink as much of it as you want. The more the better!
  • Start thinking about other ways in which you can avoid putting toxins into your body. Deodorant is a biggie. Try my homemade Coconut Oil deodorant as a starter. It’s only 3 ingredients and works better than store bought! Also review my posts on DETOX.

  1. here are my questions:
    1. many of your snacks are juiced veggies. I do not own a juicer. can I make it into a smoothie instead? or eat those veggies raw. I actually eat raw beets all the time.
    2. I have a big appetite for a small person and seem to have a high metabolism. there is not enough food on this menu for me.
Day one afternoon snack ended up with peanut butter on a rice cake and an apple. I will buy more almond butter this week – (but buying some ingredients requires an out of town trip and I wanted to get started). what do you recommend increasing?

  2. Thank you.. It reminds me of Kris Karr’s book. I’m going to see about trying this. I really want to detox and feel healthier again..

    • I’M TRYING A LOTS OF DIFFERENT GREEN DRINKS, THAT I EVEN CAME UP WITH. NOW I’M GETTING USED TO THEM EVERYDAY. IT WAS A CHALLENGE FOR ME. I WAS GETTING TIRED OF DRINKING MY FOOD. EAT FRUITS BETWEEN DRINKS TO KEEP FROM BEING HUNGRY. NOT WORKING SO WELL. I DISCOVERED 2-3 SPOON OF PEANUT BUTTER BETWEEN TIME, STOP ALL HUNGER PAIN AND BOTTLE WATER, LASTED A LONG TIME. AFTER 7 WEEKS, I LOST 25 LBS. ANOTHER 7 WEEKS 25 MORE. STARTING WEIGHT 310, YOU DO THE MATH. MIGHT DON’T MEAN NOTHING TO YOU, BUT ME A MIRACLE.

  3. Hey! Just started your cleanse three days ago. I dont generally consume healthy foods and I feel that now I’m constipated and have a lot of gas inside of me. Do you think I should stop the cleanse until I start to feel better?

  4. Thanx Courtney for sharing and making this simple for beginners, it can all be so overwhelming. I am looking forward to start cleansing my life as a whole. Where we live just to get variety in food is hard not to mention the word “organic”.

  5. That is awesome! You are doing everything right- do what is best for you and don’t torture yourself. Sometimes a small deviation from the detox will help you stay on the whole time but try to keep with it as much as you can. 🙂

  6. Hello,
I just started your detox today. I found it last week and knew that because of my schedule that starting on a Tuesday would be the best day for me. Let me mention that I have NEVER been a veggie (or fruit) person so this is quite a challenge in more ways than one. I’m thinking that I’ll make quite a few alterations but I will try just about everything 1st. Today was surprisingly easier than I thought and I want to thank you for being so thorough in this detox. You are awesome!!

Your affirmation was right on point because I needed to remind myself of that when I drank the evening smoothie. I did add an apple to it to sweeten it up and after that I was able to drink it. I also used slightly less veggies in my evening smoothie because I was terrified of the taste. My lunch salad was so HUGE that I saved some for part of my afternoon snack.

Ok here are the answers to my questions: 1) I didnt have any cravings today except for when my family went out to Fuddruckers for lunch. I got past wanting to join them because I made a commit to the detox, on day 5 0r 10 it might not be that easy. 2) I cheated with a 1/2 cup of coffee this morning. I normally drink 2 cups with sugar galore but today I used stevia and it was only a half of a cup. 3) I altered and added as previously mentioned, oh yeah, I also had a small piece of watermelon after my dinner smoothie.

  7. Not too many cravings on day 1 – I was so full from the salad! I didn’t make the breakfast smoothie, but instead had two stalks of celery and the 2 C blueberries. I felt really great and energized at the end of the day – not beat and sluggish like I usually would after a day of running errands, etc.

  8. Day one
    – appreciation : thank you so very much for letting us on a healthy path
    – cheating : was visiting friends … had a handful of healthy choice nuts and was drinking water
    – added 100g spinach + one extra cup of water to the morning drink and shared with HB
    – still have half of the evening smoothie in the fridge … will sip that before going to lunch with friends

  9. What non-”Cleanse” food did you crave the most today? How did you get past it?
CHEESE. I drank my smoothie- it fills you up quickly so you forget about your craving.

If you “cheated” today, what did you eat?
I had a crouton and ate one of my daughter’s Elmo crackers by impulse.

Did you add or alter to the menu and if so, how?

YES- I added extra veggies in for the dinner smoothie. I added more celery in for the juice just because.

  10. Cort, you are so awesome! Day 1 was has been great so far. The breakfast smoothie was very tasty. Jordan loved it too. I’m replacing my morning coffee with the green tea. It was not a problem, thank goodness! No cravings so far. Thank you so much for all the info! Lunch salad was also surprisingly filling. Haven’t been hungry today.

  11. Sounds wonderful! Off to a great start! Thank you for your dedication and helping us with such amazing and easy to follow instructions!
