14 Day Summer Cleanse: Day 5

It’s Day 5 and we’re deep into week one of our raw foods cleanse!  I know it can be a struggle at times to stay motivated but YOU’VE GOT THIS!! I know it! Read on for more moments of motivation…

DAY 5

1. Daily Affirmation:

” I am healthier each day because of the foods I am giving my body.”

This 14 Day Cleanse is causing major flashbacks. I have been traveling back to November of 2008 when I started eating raw to combat my cancer. I would make up all kinds of affirmations and pray very specifically for what I wanted my body/God to do to heal me. This was one of them. But what it especially did was KEEP ME MOTIVATED. I knew I couldn’t go back to eating how I did pre-cancer, so I had nowhere to go but FORWARD and no way to eat but RAW. Some of you may be feeling the desperation that happens around Day 5 of this cleanse. You’re craving cooked food and junk food REALLY bad. You may also be starving because you would rather not eat than down another smoothie. I can identify. The same thing happened to me during my cancer protocol. You will not nourish your body without eating. Simply avoiding the foods that are bad for you is not enough. You MUST re-frame your mind and eat the food on this cleanse because it is forming new habits, cleansing your body, and nourishing your cells. So, go ahead and struggle with yourself, with your food habits, and then down that smoothie!

2. Today’s Menu:

Breakfast- green tea, green juice ( 1/2 bunch watercress, 2-3 carrots, 1 cucumber)

Snack- apple with almond butter

Lunch– Savory Green Smoothie (1 large handful spinach or red lettuce leaves, 1/4 bunch of fresh basil, 1/2 lime juiced, 1/2 red onion, 2 celery sticks, 1/2 avocado, 2 c water) Feel free to add other veggies to this one!

Snack– rice cakes or organic flax crackers or green juice

Dinner- BIG salad (sunflower sprouts, sunflower seeds, baby or regular spinach, sliced almonds, 1/2 red onion, 1/2 avocado sliced, sliced red pepper, hummus, broccoli, dressing of your choice)

Dessert- naturally uncaffeinated herbal tea

3. Daily Questions:

Do you feel like you are “detoxing” in any way? Do you have nausea or headaches?

What thoughts are you struggling with regarding the food?

Do you plan on continuing for the second week of the cleanse?

  1. I just bought one! Thanks, that means the I’ve gotten the vitamins from it in the last few days 🙂

  2. Hey Melissa- blending it should be just fine. The juicing aspect in this cleanse is primarily for variety and ease, however, juicing as a practice and discipline is popular because it removes the fiber of the fruits and veggies, making it easier to assimilate the nutrients.

  3. Cortney- I don’t have a juicer. Instead I am blending those drinks too, with just a little bit of store bought green smoothie. Am I still getting the nutrients I need? Thinking about buying a juicer this week, just not sure of what to get.

  4. Do you feel like you are “detoxing” in any way? Do you have nausea or headaches?

    Nope! I feel great!

What thoughts are you struggling with regarding the food?

Feeling vulnerable surprisingly. Not sure why, but I miss eating for comfort. It’s good for me to have those limitations right now to avoid emotional eating!

Do you plan on continuing for the second week of the cleanse?

    Umm…of course!

  5. Ok I am embarrassed to admit that I have not started yet due to end of school year craziness, parties, school parties, etc, etc. School ends this Friday where I live so I look forward to starting my cleanse probably later than everyone else.

But I just wanted to make a quick mention to you fellow mamas out there that I will start making green smoothie popsicles for my kiddos since most of our days are spent at the neighborhood pool. They rock and they are a great way to get healthy food into your little ones while keeping them cool in the heat.

You can make them as sweet or as green as you like. I am going out and buying popsicle molds tomorrow to start making mine and experimenting with ingredients. Cheers!

  6. – No detoxing symptoms now, was a little air-headed this morning.
I feel amazing … I can feel the transformation … I am happy because I am doing good for me, and another good sign is : I fell less bloated and have let water retention in my fingers.
    – I struggle with eating all the food … I try to enjoy every bite.
it is MEGA important to get all the good nutrition … and it is equally important to keep the caloric count up otherwise the body act starvation mode and will shut down, that way no toxins will be release .- I plan on taking the next week, and the next week after that and etc.

  7. yeah, my stomach has a little roundness, too. But i think it is going to go away soon once my body starts evacuating all this food I have been consuming!

  8. Thanks for keeping me motivated! I’m definitely continuing next week. I’m starting to feel the detox effects, I am a day behind you though. My whole back from my neck to my bum was hurting last night for no apparent reason, I’m thinking detox. And I know someone commented on bloating going down but I’m the opposite, my wedding rings are tight and my stomach has a roundness to it that’s not usually there. BUT, I feel GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I’ve been going out to dinner with friends but not eating, food doesn’t look good to me right now, I’m craving all these veggies & fruit, you’re keeping me full and satisfied!
