Creamy Chocolate Almond Smoothie (Protein Rich- Vegan- Icey- Yummy)

Chocolate Almond Smoothie

This is one of my family’s new favorite breakfast smoothies. The Creamy Chocolate Almond Smoothie is loaded with nutrients to fill the belly up without having to drink much. And the idea came from my favorite lover of chocolate almond ice cream- my Dad, whose birthday it is today. Happy Birthday, Dad! This smoothie is for YOU!

Creamy Chocolate Almond Smoothie

Ingredients

3 frozen bananas

2 Tbsp cocoa powder

1 Tbsp flax seed oil

1/2 cup raw almonds

1 Tbsp Sunwarrior Natural Vegan protein

2 cups unsweetened almond milk or water (almond milk will be creamier)

10-15 drops liquid stevia (depending on how sweet you like it.)

Optional: handful or two of spinach or kale

Instructions

  1. Add all frozen bananas to blender or Vitamix for best results.
  2. Add milk or water
  3. Add all other ingredients
  4. Blend until smooth and almonds are pureed.
  5. Enjoy! (I like to sip mine through a straw!)

Notes

If you don't have frozen bananas, you can use ripe non-frozen and add 2 cups of ice. For a single-sized serving (this recipe makes about 48 ounces,) the ingredients can be easily cut in half.

  1. ALMOND BREEZE is being sued in Europe for false advertising because of only 2% almonds. All almonds milk has little almonds. In Houston we have Malk almond milk made from almonds from Europe made fresh .Very expensive.
Make your owm.No creamy artificially. Junk.

  2. I am battling breast cancer and when I see a recipe calling for this many banana’s, I steer away from it thinking that it is too many banana’s because of the sugar content. While you were going thru your strict diet and treatment protocol, did you allow yourself to drink something like this???? This is probably one of the hardest things for me because some will say fruit is good, others will say fruit is bad.

    • Hi Colene, no way. Even though ripe bananas with spotting have anti-cancer properties, I wouldn’t consume too many while going through holistic treatment. There are of course are different beliefs about sugar and fruit and cancer from different doctors and protocols, but while going through my season of healing, I only had 1 apple and some berries each day, low glycemic.
