Natural Wart Removal

OK- gross! But I had to write this post simply because it fascinated me. Warts are yucky, pesky, and can be super painful! But who knew that they could be so easily removed- without chemicals?

So my sister is a runner. Recently she developed a plantar wart on her big toe that made her favorite activity really painful. She tried all kinds of over-the-counter remedies for 5 weeks with no success, just peeling skin and more pain.

After that she moved on to a more holistic approach and started putting tea tree oil on it. She ran out of it before she saw any success.

Finally, she decided to try CASTOR OIL:

She soaked a piece of cotton in the castor oil and covered it with a band-aid for just over 24 hours. 12 hour later, all 3 of her warts (including the big plantar one on her big toe) PEELED off. I know it’s true because I saw the before and after…AND she’s a kindergarten teacher after all. As honest as you can get!

The most amazing part is that she had had one of the warts for over a year and it was gone in. a. DAY!

Sometimes keeping things naturally simple is better than all the man-formulated chemistry in the world. 🙂

***UPDATE*** June 7, 2014

I wanted to spend just a minute updating this post, as we have had another pesky wart issue within our family: molluscum contagiosum. If you’re not sure what this is, click HERE. I can tell you what they are in one word: ANNOYING. And painful too for my little one.

My daughter came home with 3 of the tiniest little wart-like bumps on the back of her legs one day and within just a few months she had DOZENS all over her body. These little buggers spread when you scratch them and touch other parts of your body or other people.

My advice to you if your child only has a few of these bumps is to be aggressive immediately. They will spread quickly!

After over a year of trying several natural remedies, these are the results of our treatments:

1. Castor Oil: There were way too many bumps to soak and cover them, so this one didn’t work for Molluscum Contagiosum.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar: Really painful for my overly-dramatic 4-year-old, but on the larger bumps this treatment does work! After a bath, soak a piece of cotton in the ACV and apply to the skin with medical tape or band-aid. The problem with this treatment was, most of her bumps were simply just tiny and itchy (causing the spread of more tiny bumps) and couldn’t be soaked in the ACV without causing irritation to the skin around them.

3. Thuja Occidentalis 30cc, 3-5 tablets 3x daily: (homeopathic remedy): This solution worked at first. Many of the bumps on her abdomen and arms disappeared, but the primary infection site never healed. I think if I would have used this immediately when she first developed the bumps, it would hav worked. I have read many testimonies of moms who treated their kids successfully with Thuja Occidentalis.

4. Prayer: in the end, I never successfully treated my daughter for Molluscum Contagiosum. The infection spread so rapidly that it was on her elbows, knees, back of her legs, armpits, and abdomen. I was so sad for her at times, especially when we were at swim events or gymnastics and she had to wear long pants and shirts to prevent spreading them to her friends. It was my husband who suggested we pray and teach our daughter to pray and ask God to take her “bumps” away. We prayed every night for three nights before we noticed her CM bumps began to dry up and flake off- first in the most severe areas, and then in the primary location. Within a week, they were almost completely gone. My faith tells me that the final 3 small bumps on her right leg will be gone, too. I’ll keep this post updated!

***Update 8/2015: Within a few weeks of teaching our daughter to pray for her bumps to be taken away, they were all gone. So cool, huh?! But again, my bit of advice would be to be very aggressive against molluscum contagiosum when you begin to notice a few. Cover them with circular band-aids until you have a plan of action, but do something quickly so that your child doesn’t spread them.

  1. Spread the word!!! I cured my sons Molluscum with cream! My son started to have these all over his body and I made an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist specialist. First appointment was three months out. Before I hung up the phone the secretary whispered put cream on “it doesn’t like cream”. I figured I’d try it. I bought gold bond eczema cream and I slathered his body day and night and it completely dried everything up in several weeks! I was so thrilled I cancelled my appointment! Couple months later a nurse practitioner told me her son had molluscum and there was no cure and her son was so upset. I told her to slather on cream day and night and sure enough it disappeared within a couple of weeks. Crazy….just cream. She didn’t even use the same cream I used.

  2. You might try Hibiclens in them. A friend of mine used it with great success after trying many other remedies. My niece got them and recommended treatment wasn’t working, so I told my sister about the Hibiclens. It worked on my niece with good success as well.

  3. Hi there, I have this wart on the ball of my foot for almost an yr. Initially it used to be small and painless. After I used corn removal strip for almost 2 weeks it came out eventually but I am not sure whether it was only skin or wart. The condition worsen after it, it became very painful. I tried those strips again thinking that the wart has not completely come out. again some skin came off but not the wart. Now i have started using castor oil and bandaging for a week. I soak my feets daily in warm water and use pumice stone as well. Some dead skin comes out. but it is still there. What could possibly be wrong? Can it be something else? Its in pale colour normally and turns white when put in hot water/castor oil for long. I dont want to get any surgery done. 2-3 more corns have come up after that. Can it be a medical condition?

  4. I have a really annoying one on the ball of my foot just under my toes in between the first and middle toe. I went to the dermatologist several times to have my foot scraped and try to get it frozen off (DIDN”T WORK) and finally he told me of a home remedy to try. I put tea tree oil on every night and then painted over it with clear nail polish and covered it with duct tape. It was gone like in 2 days! Natural is better. ALWAYS.

  5. Vitamin C too!! Crush a vitamin C tablet and mix it with a little water to make a paste. Cover the wart with a the paste and a bandaid. It may take a few applications but it works!! My son had two large plantars warts on his feet and it worked!!!

  6. She only covered the wart for 24 hours and then after there wasn’t anything on them for 12 hours they were gone?? I am trying this and hope it works. Warts suck!

  7. I took my daughter to the dermatologist for her plantar wart when she was 5 years old. He said that this method only works with young children. Give them beta carotene supplement. Wart was gone in a few weeks. Children do not keep bandaids on, so this was awesome. He said that the beta carotene supplement does not work for older children or adults. Just an FYI.

  8. Going to try this on the last stubborn wart that won’t leave. my nephew got rid of most with the applecider vinegar method it really works on most of them but have one that will not leave so gonna try this on it. thanks

  9. I have plantar warts on the bottom of my foot too, and for years they wouldn’t go away. My doctor told me to try duct tape, but that didn’t work. So this past Sunday I put some simple waterproof tape from dollar tree over the warts so I could wear sandals… and they started to peel away the warts! I’ve put tape on every night, and every morning several black seeds in the warts come out. This morning it also took off some of the dead skin caused by the wart.

  10. i also had this embarrassing problem. I used tee tree oil during the day and apple cider vinegar at night. within a week it was gone. I had my wart for over a year. amazing!

  11. I also bandaged my toe with packed, minced garlic clove mixed with castor and slept with it over night. It’s still gone.
