14 Day Summer Cleanse: Day 6

Day 6 is the day that you need to get in the mindset of staying all 14 days with this Cleanse. I know that it could be easy to rationalize only doing half of it, but you NEED to keep going. Here is why…

DAY 6

1. Daily Affirmation:

“I am transforming my mind to eat for health.”

There should be another few words tagged on to the end of that: “…and not for pleasure.” That’s the problem with American food culture. We eat for pleasure 99% of the time and rarely to nourish our bodies. When we ARE eating for health, it is viewed as self-deprivation. I know- I hear it ALL the time from my friends as I walk around school with my jars of green veggie smoothie. 7 days on this cleanse will not break your old habits. You need to begin to transform your mind. Don’t start making your reservations for your first meal off the cleanse. Start making plans for how you’re going to incorporate at least one green smoothie or salad a day into your diets once you’re off of this cleanse. We need to allow time for our food addiction to come into the light. For some people it will take months (it did for me!) For some of you, you may already be feeling like you have power over it. I depended on biblical scripture heavily while going through cancer and Paul’s writing really resonated through me. He said:

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (New Living Translation)

This encouraged me to see that eating was to become more about my mind, than my taste buds. I realized it was LIFE CHANGE for me, not just trying to eat a salad here and there. It was spiritual. Beautiful.

2. Today’s Menu

Breakfast- Apple Blueberry Almond Butter smoothie (1 apple, 2 Tbsp almond butter, 1 cup almond milk, large handful spinach)

Snack- red pepper slices and flax crackers with hummus.

Lunch- Cortney’s Green Smoothie (1/2 avocado 3 handfuls baby greens, 1/2 c broccoli sprouts, 1/2 bell pepper, 1 handful sunflower sprouts, 1 tomato, 1/2 c cauliflower, 1/2 c beans of your choice, 2 whole carrots, 1 apple)

Snack- green juice (1 beet, 4-6 sticks of celery, 2 carrots)

Dinner- BIG salad (baby greens, sunflower sprouts, 1/4 red onion, pecans, 1 chopped apple or pear, broccoli, hummus)

 Dessert- naturally uncaffeinated herbal tea

3. Daily Questions:

How are you feeling about all 14 days? Will you be with us the whole time?

Any requests for next week’s menu? YES- there will be a lot of new things to try, NOT just a repeat of this week.

Shout Out: I borrowed the design for the “transform your mind” image at the top of this post from a trio of ladies who design and sell scripture oriented clothing. You can check them out at www.wildolivetees.com. 🙂

  1. Hello, hope you are doing very well. Today is my 6th day and i feel great. The smoothies are very hard for me to and i was wondering if you have any tips for that. For example. The one for tomorrow, which is beets, celery and carrots is not my friend at all. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for what you are doing. Pandi

    • Hi Sandra! I am so glad you are enjoying the cleanse. IT sounds like that might be a combination for juicing? If any of the combinations of veggies are difficult for you, try changing it up slightly so that it’s palatable. OR replace it with a juice or smoothie that you liked previously. Do you own a Vitamix blender? My Vitamix is KEY to smoothie drinking for me!

  2. Thank you for the affirmation… It was a great reminder of WHY I’m doing this. I’ve been thinking a lot about all the food I want to eat when this 2 weeks is over. I was able to shift this thought process. Thanks Cort. 🙂
